Cigar shop given OK to sell liquor

August 28, 2014

EAST GREENWICH — One local cigar shop will now serve up drinks to customers to go along with their choice of smokes.
Members of the East Greenwich Town Council unanimously approved the application for a new Class BV
SHOP, from 1
Alcoholic Beverage License with Victualing for Regency Cigar Emporium, located at 752 Main St., during Monday’s regular meeting at Town Hall.
Peter Nolan, the legal counsel representing Regency Cigar Emporium, LLC and its owner, Michael Correia, addressed the Council that the business will not be “your typical bar on Main Street” where there will be no live bands performing or entertainment of any kind.
Nolan said the establishment will be like a “high-end club” and it will not serve regular beer, but rather premier liquors and bottled beer on a limited menu. Those drinks, Nolan says, can only be consumed in conjunction with buying cigars.
