CHARLESTOWN â€“ In one of its last actions, the previous Town Council unanimously approved an amendment to the town's wastewater ordinance to provide more relief for residents previously facing expensive septic system upgrades.
The council previously introduced the amendment to its cesspool phase-out ordinance at its first October meeting. And it was explained that this change will this change will provide more time to certain residents who have to replace their cesspools with new septic systems.
And at its Nov. 8 meeting, the council voted 5-0 to approve the amendment.
