BREAKING NEWS: Johnson in, Patterson out on Exeter council following mail-in ballots

November 9, 2012

BREAKING NEWS: Official mail-in ballot counts are in and we have a major change in Exeter!
Despite leading by four votes after votes were tallied on Election Day, Exeter's Dan Patterson lost his bid for re-election, falling to challenger Bob Johnson by a final tally of 1,474-1,469. That means Johnson will join the quartet of incumbents Arlene Hicks, Cal Ellis, Raymond Morrisey and William Monahan in his return to the council.
In North Kingstown, meanwhile, Republican Carol Hueston held off a surprising bid by Independent candidate Colin O'Sullivan and turned a six-vote lead on Election Day into a 172-vote victory after mail-in ballots were counted.
That means the town council in NK will consist of three Republicans (Liz Dolan, Kerry McKay and Hueston), Independent Kevin Maloney and Democrat Richard Welch.
