Book sale at Cross Mills Public Library this Saturday

April 7, 2011

CHARLESTOWN -- Cross Mills Public Library recently announced a plan to renovate the library’s children’s room, creating a space of openness and beauty which will allow easier access for children of all ages.

Funded through a generous grant from Bill and Kathy Applegate, the improved area will house all youth materials in one place and better accommodate attendance at the library’s popular children’s story hours.

As a way to publicize the renovation and generate additional funding, the Library will hold a “kids-only” book sale, with all proceeds benefiting the children’s area. Although construction is underway, funding is still needed for children’s seating, additional books and shelving.

The book sale will be held on April 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donations will be gratefully accepted by library staff during library hours. All children’s materials in good shape (books, dvds, stuffed animals) will be accepted for sale.

The children’s renovation is 100 percent patron funded. For more information or to get involved, please contact CMPL’s Library Director at

The library is located at 4417 Old Post Road in Charlestown.
