Bond pays off with new library

April 14, 2012

EAST GREENWICH — With much of the work on the $52 million school bond approved by East Greenwich School District voters in 2008 now complete, school officials received some thanks last Tuesday night…appropriately enough, in upgraded surroundings made possible by savings from the bond surplus.

The School Committee held last week’s meeting in the East Greenwich High School library as a means of showing off the recently completed improvements, which closed the library for much of the school year and forced the relocation of books and much of its equipment to the old school gym.

The revamped library includes refurbished lighting and carpeting, the removal of a back wall of books to allow a view of the school courtyard, improved technology and internet capacity, a more compact circulation desk, and the removal of a stairway to upstairs space now being used as a classroom.

Read more about it in the April 12 edition of the Pendulum.
