Block, Kettle, Morgan assail CCFD bill process

July 21, 2014

COVENTRY — During a brief press conference held at the Westwood Estates Community Center, GOP gubernatorial Candidate Ken Block spoke out against local legislatures going against the votes of the people in the Central Coventry Fire District to pass the bills that will continue to drive up taxes.
He was joined by Dist. 21 Senator Nicholas Kettle and Dist. 26 Representative Patricia Morgan.
“It’s not up to legislators to decide to how to tax a district,” Block said. “They have no business in that. What is broken in Rhode Island is the special interests and their ability to circumvent the needs and wants of the taxpayers.”
Block believes the taxpayers in Rhode Island shouldn’t have to live with such a large variation of tax amounts across the state.
