SOUTH KINGSTOWN – What started as a pitching duel through the first two innings became scoring frenzy between the East Greenwich and South Kingstown baseball teams on Tuesday.
After losing this past Saturday, the Rebels looked to get back on track at their home field against East Greenwich. However, the Avengers were simply too much for the Rebels, as they defeated South Kingstown (6-6), 8-4. The Avengers got the bats going later in the game, by scoring three runs in the final inning. Right fielder Steven Shipley had two hits, including an RBI triple in the third inning to give the Avengers their first score of the game. Outfielder Peter Goretoy also had two hits for the East Greenwich. Senior pitcher Andrew Miner put on quite the show on the mound, striking out six batters in five innings.
