Amendment to reinstate CMS dean defeated

WOOD RIVER JUNCTION — There were plenty of cuts in the fiscal year 2015 budget, but the most controversial was the reduction of 0.8 dean’s position at the Chariho Middle School. Echoing last week’s budget hearing, parents and teachers came to the microphone at Tuesday night’s school committee hearing to explain the need for dean and to request that the position be reinstated.

According to the FY15 plan, the middle school would have 1.2 deans (instead of two), four guidance counselors, a principal and and a vice principal.
