All women welcome to join Helping Hands in spreading holiday cheer

November 25, 2010

PEACE DALE - Amidst caroling and friendship, the women of Helping Hands of the First Baptist Church of Narragansett will spread holiday cheer Monday, Dec. 6 during their Christmas Celebration as they make blankets for the Providence Rescue Mission. The group will meet at the lounge of the Neighborhood Guild at 325 Columbia St, Peace Dale from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The Women's Ministry Team of First Baptist Church of Narragansett, 305 Kingstown Road, Narragansett sponsors Helping Hands, a group of women who make handmade items to support charities around the world. All women are welcome to join the group. Usually 15 women from different South County communities give their time to make crafts and goods as a part of Helping Hands.

"It's open to any women in the community who want to come and make things for charity. It's open to anyone wanting to enjoy some friendship and create something for someone in need. Usually, it does not require a lot of talent, just people people with compassion and who care for those in need," Laurel Niemi, chairperson of the group said.
