SOUTH KINGSTOWN - Norm Windus, coordinator of sailing programs at the University of Rhode Island for more than 40 years, has chosen to retire from his position and to leave it in the capable hands of Chris Liberti, a seven-year student of Windus.
While Windus’ last day was Friday, he took the time to speak with The Narragansett Times from his office on Monday. He began by reflecting on the changes made to the recreational and instructional sailing programs in his tenure as the coordinator.

We didn’t have huge numbers of people in those days, but it started getting to the point where we knew we needed the bigger building.”
