ACLU releases report on racial bias in school suspensions

PROVIDENCE—The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island (ACLU) released a new report on Tuesday which demonstrates that minority students are being punished at schools across the state disproportionately to white students. According to ‘Blacklisted: an update,’ North Kingstown suspended black students 6.34 times more than other students, while Hispanic students were suspended 1.26 times as often.
