WARWICK – Both East Greenwich cross country squads capped impressive seasons with dominant wins in the final dual meet of 2014 but the girls got the slight edge on the season, with the win they cemented the Suburban Division title and polished their 8-0 record.

Skippers still undefeated with 35-12 win

NORTH KINGSTOWN- The North Kingstown Skippers have been one of the most exciting teams early this season. This past Friday night, the team looked to continue its impressive start with another victory against Mt. Pleasant at North Kingstown High School.
The Skipper's offense could not be slowed down on Friday night, as the team cruised to a 35-12 victory against Mt. Pleasant.

Scarlet Knights get victory over Barrington

EXETER-WEST GREENWICH— The Scarlet Knights girls soccer team is in a three-team race for the top spot in the Division I-South standings with only three weeks left on the fall schedule. This past Thursday evening Division I-East opponent—Barrington—came to town as both the teams were separated in record by only one game.
During the first half, each team managed to keep it a clean slate with a 0-0 game, but Exeter-West Greenwich showed they were the team to watch out for. The Scarlet Knights fired nine shots on goal to Barrington’s two.

Narragansett to host first annual half marathon

NARRAGANSETT- The Narragansett Running Association came up with a great race venue, and intend to implement it on Sunday, Nov. 2. It is the First Annual Gansett Half-Marathon , and will take runners through a scenic 13.1-mile course that covers much of the southern part of Narragansett.
According to race officials, this event will start and end near the Narragansett Town Beach. It will include a flat and fast course that covers the Towers, Kinney Avenue, Clark Road, Scarborough Beach, and the Point Judith Lighthouse. Race time is 11 a.m.

Crusaders drop game to Oakers 3-1 Monday

NARRAGANSETT- The Coventry Oakers and the Prout School Crusaders have both had their struggles this season. Each team looked to get a big victory on Monday night and pull above .500 for the season.
Ultimately, Coventry had too much offense for the Crusaders on Monday night, winning the game, 3-1, at the Prout School.
The big road victory for the Oakers gives Coventry a 6-5-2 record on the season, while the Crusaders fall to 2-3-5.

Narragansett suffers first loss of season

MIDDLETOWN- The Narragansett Mariners have been one of the biggest surprises in high school football this season. With an undefeated 3-0 record heading into Friday night's contest against the Middletown Islanders, the Mariners were looking to have a big game under the lights to show they are a legitimate contender in their division.
Despite the success, Narragansett didn't have enough offense to keep up with the Islanders on Friday night, as the Mariners were defeated by Middletown, 48-22.

URI falls in Governor’s Cup

KINGSTON — For the second consecutive home game, the winless Rhode Island football team turned the ball over three times in the first half of a winnable contest.
And, not surprisingly, for the second time in as many games at Meade Stadium, the Rams walked off the field feeling they’d just throw away an opportunity to give first-year coach Joe Fleming his first victory in charge of the program.

NHS tennis improves to 9-1

NARRAGANSETT- The Narragansett Mariners Girls Tennis teams have been one of the best teams in Division II all season. With an 8-1 record going into Monday afternoon's contest, the Mariners were looking for their ninth win against Providence Country Day.
The Mariners were able to continue their impressive season, defeating PCD, 6-1.
Narragansett has won four-straight games, and are still in first place in Division II Suburban A.

Ward leads Coventry to 4-game win

COVENTRY — The Coventry volleyball team which dominated Classical in the first and third games of Monday’s Division I crossover contest is one of the favorites to win the state title.
On the other hand, the Oaker squad which lost the second game and had to grind out a victory in the final game of last season’s title game rematch doesn’t appear close to retaining the state title.

Scarlet Knights taken down by North Smithfield Saturday

EXETER/WESTGREENWICH—The Exeter\West Greenwich Scarlet Knights have hit a rough stretch for this season. Going into Saturday’s game against North Smithfield, the team had lost its first two games, and were looking to get their first victory of the season against the Northmen on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the confidence going into the game, the Scarlet Knights were defeated by North Smithfield, 40-6, on Saturday at Exeter\West Greenwich High School.
