KINGSTON--In 2010, Karie Lee Orendorff went to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. When she returned, the Kinesiology lecturer brought an even greater opportunity to her students at the University of Rhode Island: a chance to teach local Tanzanian youth.
For 10 days in July, Orendorff and 16 other undergraduates journeyed across the globe to teach math, science, reading and physical education at the Maasai Joy Children's Centre in Arusha, a city which lies in Tanzania's Ekenywa Valley.
