Hopkinton officials to meet with gravel bank owners

HOPKINTON -- Two members of the Town Council, the Town Planner, and the Town Manager will meet with local gravel bank operators and their attorney to discuss the long-in-the-works ordinance for land clearing and earth removal.

Chariho to utilize ClerkBase

WOOD RIVER JCT. -- The Chariho Regional School Committee voted 8-0-1 to approve a contract for $8,295 between the district and ClerkBase, a program that will allow live online streaming of board meetings and, possibly, other events. School Committee member William Day, of Richmond, abstained from the vote.

Hopkinton Town Council OKs audit firm bid

HOPKINTON -- The Town Council voted unanimously at the May 2 meeting to maintain the services of Bacon & Company LLC to perform the Hopkinton's financial audits for the next three years.

Town Manager William McGarry said he received a report on the matter from the town treasurer, who received quotes from two accounting firms. And the low bid for all three years, he said, was from Bacon & Company.

Chariho renews SRO contract

WOOD RIVER JCT. -- The Chariho Regional School Committee voted unanimously at the April 26 meeting to approve an agreement to retain Richmond police officer Anthony Zoglio as the school resource officer.

The vote extends the contract between the district and town police department for the 2011-12 school year. And it came after a long discussion heralding Zoglio for his efforts since he came onboard as the school resource officer, or SRO, last fall.

Chariho seeks advice from Commissioner Gist

WOOD RIVER JCT. -- The Chariho Regional School Committee unanimously approved authorizing Ricci to request a legal advisory from state Department of Education Commissioner Deborah Gist regarding funding for the Metropolitan Regional Career and Technical Center, commonly known as MET School.

CHARLESTOWN -- The Town Council moved on a decision to hire a municipal court judge for the town at the April 20 meeting. The council voted unanimously to appoint Margaret Steele to the position.
