PROVIDENCE - Rep. Donna M. Walsh has been appointed vice chairwoman of the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee, House Speaker Gordon D. Fox announced this week.
RICHMOND -- One of Town Administrator Steven A. Sette's first tasks when he took the job in the spring of 2010 wasn't exactly what you would call easy.
CHARLESTOWN – The Charlestown Police Department was recently chosen, along with Bristol and Smithfield, to attend a workshop to learn an approach to policing that is said to reduce the crime rate in town.
WOOD RIVER JCT. – The Chariho Regional School District superintendent's proposed budget of $54.37 million for fiscal year 2011-12 represents a 3.3 percent increase over the current year's voter-approved budget of $52.62 million.
CHARLESTOWN – The Town Council voted unanimously Monday night to create an ad hoc committee that will look into solutions, both permanent and temporary, for the facilities at the Charlestown and Blue Shutters town beaches.
It was one and done for the Chariho Regional School District, which was entirely closed on Wednesday because of the massive blizzard but is back in business today after a one-hour delay.
