Voters re-elect incumbents South Kingstown

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Although nationally the favor was against Democratic incumbents, in South Kingstown voters chose to reelect all the current town council members to another term on Tuesday.
About 11,144 of 20,883 registered voters in South Kingstown turned out to vote yesterday. Town Council President Kathleen Fogarty, a Democrat was reelected with 5,214 votes or 10.9 percent of the vote. Democrat Ella Whaley was reelected with 5,190 votes or 10.9 percent of the vote.

WEB EXCLUSIVE: SK field hockey team heading to D-II title game

CRANSTON-The South Kingstown field hockey team has said all season long that they're one of the best teams in Division II.
Thanks to a 2-0 win over Tiverton Saturday afternoon, the Rebels will get their chance to prove it.
South Kingstown's Mackenzie Iemma and Emma Morgan each scored goals Saturday afternoon and Rebel goalie Stephanie Giorelli did the rest as SK upset second-seeded Tiverton to advance to the Division II title game.
The Rebels will play either Classical or Smithfield Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Cranston Stadium.

Laura Reale loses her license for five years

WAKEFIELD – Laura A. Reale, of Westerly, lost her license for five years after appearing in court and pleading guilty to being a habitual traffic offender, the new state law that was created following her arrest for allegedly running a red light and killing Colin B. Foote last May.

Carpenter’s Farm to host annual pumpkin launch

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Pumpkins will be falling from the sky Saturday, Nov. 6 as part of the town's annual pumpkin launch from 1 to 4 p.m. at Carpenter's Farm at Matunuck Beach Road.

EG escapes UnPleasant feeling, tops Kilties in PKs

The East Greenwich boys soccer team dodged a major bullet Friday night, escaping with a win in penalty picks in a 1-1 game with Mount Pleasant.
After a scoreless first half, EG scored with just over 20 minutes left in the game, but Mount Pleasant answered with a goal less than one minute later.
The half finished tied at one and the two 10-minute overtime periods were both scoreless. In the penalty kicks, EG converted four of five while keeper Alex Serino made two saves, avoiding what would have been a monumental upset of the No. 1 seeded Avengers.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN–The South Kingstown football team has suffered some tough losses this season but none, not even the 31-0 loss to Barrington a week ago, hurt the way Friday night's 20-16 defeat to Cranston East did.
Because, for the first time this season, the Rebels left the field knowing they let a sure win slip away.
