CHARLESTOWN -- Governor-elect Lincoln Chafee will be attending Monday night's special Town Council meeting to swear-in the newly elected councilors.
RICHMOND â The Town Council officially established a temporary committee Monday night that will work to provide activities and services to seniors from the town and surrounding communities.

NORTH KINGSTOWN â No decision has been made on the fate of the old Beechwood House, but, the good news is, itâs right around the corner.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) sub-committee has met numerous times, most recently on Nov. 1, to discuss the three RFPâs before them. At Mondayâs Town Council meeting, President Liz Dolan read a memorandum from Wendy Nicholas, Director of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Richard Youngken, Board of Directors for the same organization.

NORTH KINGSTOWN â A North Kingstown resident was killed when the SUV he was driving rolled over on Tower Hill Road in front of the First Church of Christ Scientist, 55 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown Tuesday night.
The driver of the vehicle, James Gault, 44, was found unresponsive and itâs unknown at this time if he was wearing a seatbelt or not. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
NORTH KINGSTOWN â It was 9:45 p.m. on Saturday night and everything was nice and quiet throughout North Kingstown.
Well, almost everything.
For the Shady Lea Mill, the night was just getting started as a group of ghost hunters, known as the Ghost Hunter Organized Search Teams (GHOST) had taken over the 1820âs building, in the hopes of finding abnormal activity.
NORTH KINGSTOWN â A new business in town will be opening just after the first of the year that will offer locals fresh, homemade bread made with the freshest ingredients, deli sandwiches and more.
Great Harvest Bread Co., which will be located at 6679 Post Road, next to the AT&T store, is still under construction but soon it will be a place where people can come and get fresh, out of the oven bread and relax with a cup of coffee and a muffin.

NORTH KINGSTOWN âA late afternoon fire completely destroyed an unoccupied mobile home on Boston Neck Road, last Thursday, just north of Waldron Avenue in the Hamilton section of town. Multiple calls came in from motorists and North Kingstown fire personnel responded at 3:57 p.m. and upon arrival, the mobile home was âheavily engulfedâ. According to some eye witnesses, flames could be seen shooting up to 40 feet in the air.
HOPKINTON, R.I. â For a singer whose career is just starting to gain national and international attention, it is ironic that Juliana Fraioliâs favorite place to sing is a place called âThe Bitter End.â Fraioli, 25, who grew up in North Kingstown and now lives in Hopkinton, in between stops of New York City, Boston and Providence, has just released a new CD called, âJuliana.â The Italian-American, classically trained songstress brings a fresh, new sound to contemporary music. She writes and performs songs of passion and angst, fantasy and fun, all through the eyes of a wise young person.
EXETER â On a raw and windy Tuesday, David Kirchner makes his rounds of the Rhode Island Memorial Veterans Cemetery, picking up small grave-site flags that have blown over. As director of the cemetery â he started working with the veteransâ program in 1998 â he considers overseeing this hallowed ground a privilege. âIâm very proud to serve, to preserve the dignity of the whole place,â he says. âIt is fulfilling and humbling.â For more on this story, pick up a copy of this week's Standard Times.
JAMESTOWN â Rosemary Enright and Sue Maden sit in the Jamestown Museum, built in 1885-86 and talk about their passions: history. Both active in the Jamestown Historical Society, theyâre showing off the latest example of their mission to tell the story of this special place â a handsome, recently-published book titled JAMESTOWN: A History of Narragansett Bayâs Island Town. The two women have collaborated on a number of projects; both write and Rosemary also edits.
